NEWS UPDATES
All New Orleans residents are now able to re-enter the city. Though all residents
are able to re-enter, officials warn of widespread power outages and limited capacities
at local hospitals, grocery stores, and gas stations. Storm related damage is much
less than what was expected, but there are reports of downed power lines, trees,
and tree limbs. Please use caution as you and your loved ones re-enter the area.
For more updates on re-entry, please see:

ACTION ALERTS

* We are pleased to announce that we erroneously reported yesterday that FEMA would
not be providing financial assistance to evacuees. FEMA has now announced that
it will provide financial assistance to evacuees. Please see the Times Picayune

* We are attempting to compile a list of advocates and service providers working
with Gulf Coast residents in areas affected directly with Gustav, and also in areas
that are sheltering Gulf Coast evacuees. We are doing so in order to be able to
establish an accurate referral system, and also to connect advocates in need with
donors. If you fit this category, please respond to the following questions and
email your responses to gnofairhousing at gmail.com [mailto:gnofairhousing at gmail.com].
Organization:

1. Main Contact Name:
2. Main Contact Number:
3. Main Contact Email:
4. What is your return plan?
5. What is your evacuation contact info (number and email)?
6. What Gustav-related services do you anticipate offering?
7. What needs (funding/otherwise) does your organization currently have?
8. What manpower/volunteer needs does your organization anticipate having in the
 next four months?
9. Are you aware of any organizations providing services in areas where there are
displaced residents?
10. Is there any other information that would be helpful for us to provide to those
in need or to those seeking to aid a provider such as your organization?

* Finally, Times Picayune reporter Katy Reckdahl is seeking city-assisted evacuees
and evacuees with financial difficulties to speak with about their experiences.
