Dear Friend,
 
To some, "hope" is a passive emotion, an unfounded belief or wish.  But at Project Lazarus, hope is active and grounded in the compassionate and generous support and response that you and others like you have provided in the past to our needs.
 
Your support last year helped five Project Lazarus residents move on to independent living as a result of the care, guidance and support they received.  Your unselfish gifts turned despair into dignity for those fighting to survive the effects of HIV/AIDS and affirmed that you believe in Project Lazarus' humanitarian goal - to provide a safe, caring haven where:
Transitional care helps people regain their strength and access crucial medical benefits while they relocate to independent housing.
Respite care offers short-term housing to those recovering from surgery or treatment. 
Life-long care helps individuals in the final stages of HIV/AIDS and those coping with physical or mental disabilities.
HIV/AIDS strikes without prejudice.  It affects people from every layer of society, afflicting both the brightest and the smallest with equal ferocity.  It isn't slowed by a sagging economy, and, in fact, it hits sufferers hardest when the resources to help them are most scarce.
 
That's why we are writing to you this year.  We need your continued help to keep hope alive and active at Project Lazarus.  Your generous donation now will be an extended hand to those in need, to show them that they have not been abandoned or forgotten.  On behalf of the residents, staff, volunteers and board of Project Lazarus, we thank you in advance for your tax-deductible gift in this season of giving.
