Join us for some Francophile fun in honor of Bastille Day on Sunday July 12th for free live music, cake and champagne for the LET THEM EAT CAKE! event and costume contest at The Market Cafe at 1000 Decatur Street, right behind the Jeanne d' Arc statue.  

LET THEM EAT CAKE!!  SUNDAY JULY 12TH 
 
2 p.m. Music by Pierre Pichon Gypsy Swing Trio
2:30 p..m. Toast by Napoleon and Joan of Arc and sing-a-long to Le Marseillaise
3:00 p.m. Let them eat cake! Cake cutting and tasting for all
3:15 p.m. Costume contest: Come dressed as your favorite French character (real or imagined, alive or dead, famous or infamous) and win some cool French Market gifts as prizes. 

French native and New Orleans resident Pierre Pichon Gypsy Trio will serenade guests as costumed characters mingle with guests Napoleon (Mikko), Joan of Arc (Caye Mitchell), and a Marcel Marceau impersonator.  Mikko (NAPOLEON) has portrayed some of the greatest people to affect New Orleans, including Andrew Jackson, Mark Twain, and of course Napoleon Bonaparte, even writing a lyrical play about L'empereur, "Jour de Gloire" which garnered him many awards.  Caye Mitchell  (JOAN OF ARC) led the first annual Twelfth Night St. Joan of Arc Parade on horseback in armor through the French Quarter. A New Orleans native of French heritage and a member of the New Orleans Posse, she rides in several Mardi Gras parades and runs a therapeutic riding program for disabled children.
