Ok Y'all - Again I am going to try to be brief and to the point and let the
fliers do the talking. April is going to be insane here in the Crescent
City, and we're here to do our part to make it that way. This isn't actually
a press release, but some notice of things going on and about to go on.
Let's get it started -
*
NoLA Rising: United Artist Front - WANTS YOU!!!*
NoLA Rising needs you! NoLA Rising needs your art!
NoLA Rising is now a non-profit. We rose up from the streets to become an
organization of artists whose goal is to encourage people in all
neighborhoods of Greater New Orleans to publicly display works of art for
the purpose of rebuilding and restoring the human spirit in our city.
NoLA Rising will be announcing a major murals program in the Lower Ninth
Ward of New Orleans that will eventually expand to other areas of the city.
In order to do all of this, we need to hit the ground running. In the past,
NoLA Rising has survived because artists have heeded the call to realize a
goal larger than their own self-interest and given their time, their talent
and their artwork in pursuit of our noble ideals.
NoLA Rising is putting on a fundraiser / show at the Old U.S. Mint on
Esplanade Avenue and we’re currently calling for artists to donate a piece
of artwork. The hope is that we can raise money to cover the costs needed
for starting a major murals program. The event will be held the first
weekend of Jazzfest (April 24th-25th) and will be well covered by media
(mainstream and not so mainstream).
And what do you get besides a warm, fuzzy feeling inside for doing something
good? You get our undying love and gratitude. . You get to help be part of
the NoLA Rising Movement to beautify a city that government forgot. You get
recognition for helping us out and you get to be in an awesome show with
some pretty bad-ass artists. Most importantly, you help out the people of
New Orleans.
Help us paint the change you wish to see!

Like I have done in the past, not on purpose, this an event happening
TOMORROW and with short notice comes confusion and frustration, however to
be aware of the happenings and the severity of this trial I would appreciate
your comments and ideas on how to deal with this situation.

When Lafcadio Hearn moved to New Orleans in the 1870s, he wrote to a friend
back in Cincinnati:
"Times are not good here. The city is crumbling into ashes. It has been
buried under a lava flood of taxes and frauds and maladministrations so that
it has become only a study for archaeologists. Its condition is so bad that
when I write about it, as I intend to do soon, nobody will believe I am
telling the truth. But it is better to live here in sackcloth and ashes,
than to own the whole state of Ohio."
